Johnny Mann Obituary

Johnny Mann, Sr. the sixth of thirteen children to the late Ivory (Ira) & Bessie Mae Bryant Mann was born on November 6, 1944 in Nash County, North Carolina.

Johnny transitioned into eternal rest on April 26, 2023 at UNC Nash Hospital in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

Johnny received his education in the Nash County Public Schools System. In search of opportunity/better way of life, he later moved to Baltimore, Maryland and began working for the RC Cola Company. While there, he married Odell Spruill and together they reared three sons. He later returned to North Carolina and worked for Merita Bakery, Fab-X, and Draka Elevator Products. Upon retiring, he pursued his passion in carpentry.

Johnny enjoyed the outdoors and loved sitting on his front porch. His favorite pastimes included cooking, singing and spending time with family/friends.

Johnny preceded in death by his former spouse Odell Spruill Mann Nicholson; one grandson, Jyronn Davis; four siblings, Ivory Clinton Mann, Evora Deloris Caudle, Lillie Mae Mann-Daniels and Charles Earl Mann.

Johnny leaves to cherish his everlasting memory: five sons, Carston Earl Spruill (Angie) of Greensboro, NC, Johnny Dewand Mann, Jr. of Battleboro, NC, Gregory Antonio Mann (Glory) of Whitakers, NC, Jarel Donte Mann and Christopher Justin Battle of the home; five brothers, William E. Mann, Sr. (Tonie), R.V. Mann, Sr. both of Whitakers, NC, Bobby Mann (Jane) of Woodland, NC, Alphonso Mann (Hattie), Nelson Mann (Linda) both of Rocky Mount, NC; three sisters, Deborah Mann Taylor (James) of Whitakers, NC, Bessie Lee Mann Johnson (Phillip), Loretta Mann Addison (Tommie) both of Battleboro, NC; twelve grandchildren, Demertrius Debro (Danielle), Brittney Shepherd (Orin), Kenda McNair, Je'Nae Mann, Emmanuel Mann, Myraikle McNair, Aaron Davis, Aisha Silver, Lando Rankin, Major Bryant, Justin Harris and Aisha Collins; thirty great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
