Jimmie Pitts, Jr.

Jimmie Pitts, Jr. was born February 27, 1947 to the late Arline Smith and Jimmie Pitts, Sr. in Halifax County, North Carolina. Jimmie was the second out of four children. He peacefully transition on May 14, 2021 at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, North Carolina.

Jimmie was loved for his wit by his family and friends. He enjoyed fried chicken wings and chocolate cake. He was a joker who loved to laugh. He was of strong mind/will and was a fighter to the end. Jimmie was nicknamed “JD” by his family and friends.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memory, five sons; Barry Pitts, Jimmie (Dayna) Pitts III, Jimmie Avent, Deon Avent and Jason Avent; one daughter, Jamika Avent all of North Carolina; one brother, Moses Bridges, Jr. (Doris) of Vir - ginia; eight grandchildren & five great-grandchildren. He leaves a special friend Jackie Burwell “Cupcake” of Rocky Mount; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
