Deacon Johnny Earl King was born on March 3, 1949 to the late Joseph Russel King and Nellie Pittman King. He was one of ten children. He was called from labor to reward on April 14, 2026. He was educated in the Edgecombe County School District having graduated from Phillips High School in 1969. Johnny loved to work on any small engine, tearing it down and rebuilding it.
Deacon King received several certifications in Small Engine Repair from Nash Community College. He was employed by the City of Rocky Mount as an Equipment Operator in the Street Department for 38 years. During his earlier years, Deacon King was a member of the Church of God of Deliverance under the leadership of the late Apostle Alice McKnight Dickens. He later served at God’s Salvation, Healing and Deliverance Church under Bishop Larry T. Dickens. He loved his church and would assist in any capacity needed.
Deacon King is preceded in death by his daughter: Gwanette L, King-Garner, a granddaughter: Angel Dominique King, his parents: Joseph Russel King and Nellie Pittman King, two sisters: Minnie Brown and Helen King, and one brother Henry Pittman.
He leaves to cherish precious memories: his wife, Brenda of the home, daughters: Nichole King of Wilson, NC and Ronda King of the home, 2 grandchildren: DaeKwon Malik King (Stephanie) of Greenville, NC and Miracle King of the home, 3 grandchildren: Harmony Lene King and Carter Cager of Greenville, NC and Brayden King of Nashville, NC, 3 sisters: Viola Jefferies and Josephine Joyner of Baltimore, MD, and Clarkie J. King of Battleboro, NC, 3 brothers: Herbert Pittman of New York, NY, James M. King (Julie) and Thurston R. King (Geneva) of Battleboro, NC; one sister-in-law; Reverend Teretha Pryor of Whitakers, NC; 4 brothers-in-law, Larry Cofield and Michael Cofield (Rosemary) of Rocky Mount, NC; Tony Cofield (Ava) of Tarboro, NC and Kenneth Cofield (Tondala) of Norfolk, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.
